Helmets/Accessoires

A properly fitted helmet is essential to riding safely. Riding helmets are designed and made for different types and disciplines of horse riding. As much as the look and feel of a helmet are important, safety is the whole reason riding helmets exist. There are 4 international equestrian standards to look for: Kitemark PAS015:2011, Kitemark EN1384:2023 and SEI ASTM F1163:2023 and SNELL E2021 or E2016 (highest standard for the extreme situation). VG1 certified helmets should have the ASTM, PAS or SNELL standard because these standards are higher. The more safety standards the better. A helmet’s maximum lifespan is 5 years. Replace after any impact. Jockey skulls covering more of the head, without a fixed peak and meeting the highest safety standards. A new helmet will break in as you wear it and mould to the shape of your head. It should fit like a new pair of boots: snug, with a firm and even pressure all the way around. A snug fit with even, firm pressure around the entire head. Most people have an oval shaped head but some have a rounder shape. The shape of your head can effect how a helmet fits and its comfort.
